Dr Iveson is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. He works at both Southampton and Salisbury.
He specialises in the chemotherapy treatment of gastro-intestinal cancers (oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, and bowel cancer).
He is an active participant in clinical trials trying to improve the treatment for these cancers and has published widely on the treatment of gastro-intestinal cancers.
He is the chief investigator of the SCOT study looking at the duration of adjuvant chemotherapy treatment.
He is a member of the NCRI (National Cancer Research Institute) Colorectal Cancer Adjuvant and Advanced Disease Sub-group. He is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of Bowel Cancer UK and the Clinical Advisory Board for Macmillan Cancer Support.
He believes that patients should be well informed about their cancer and its treatment and therefore should have access to high quality patient information. For many years he has worked with Macmillan Cancer Support and now is their Chief Medical Editor overseeing the information in their booklets and on their website.
