Dr Ed Smith is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.
Dr Smith trained at the University of Oxford, gaining his medical degree as well as a degree in Physiological Sciences. As a junior he worked in Oxford, Newcastle, and London Teaching Hospitals.
Dr Smith started at The Christie in 2000, and later becoming a Consultant after completion of his specialist training in Clinical Oncology in 2007.
His practice is primarily related to Lymphoma and other haematological disorders (giving chemotherapy and radiotherapy).
Dr Smith has interests in treating young people with Lymphoma, and these patients are referred from across the region, to be treated on The Young Oncology Unit at The Christie. He also practices Paediatric radiotherapy and has a particular interest in using advanced radiotherapy to reduce the risk of late effects of treatment, as well as an in interest in particle therapies (including Proton Therapy).
Dr Smith in involved in and runs a Young Persons Survivorship Course at The Christie and is developing treatment summaries and care plans for patients' use.
