Dr Andrew Sykes is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.
Dr Sykes qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1989 and after gaining MRCP moved to the Christie to train as an Oncologist. He was appointed as a Consultant at the Christie in 1997, with an interest in head and neck and skin cancers.
In the field of Head and neck cancer Dr Sykes uses complex IMRT planning, with or without synchronous chemotherapy. He is also active in research, being involved in a number of trials of palliative chemotherapy.
Dr Sykes treats non-melanoma skin cancer with radiotherapy and also runs a Vismodegib clinic for advanced basal cell carcinoma. He also provides radiotherapy support to the melanoma group.
Dr Sykes is Chairman of the Christie Hospital drug and therapeutics’ committee and is a council member of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists.
