Mr Mohammed Saeed

Mr Mohammed Saeed is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport.

Mr Saeed is a highly experienced surgeon treating a wide range of disorders associated with the intestines and in particular those related to the colon and rectum.  These include colon cancer, haemorrhoids, hernias and gallbladder surgery.

Graduating from Manchester University in 1988 with a First Class Honours degree in Anatomy and Medicine, Mr Saeed undertook surgical training in Manchester and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1992.  He undertook specialist training in colorectal surgery in Manchester where he was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) research degree from the University of Manchester in 1999 and In the same year he gained the intercollegiate Fellowship in General Surgery, FRCS (Gen-Surg).

In 2001 Mr Saeed was appointed Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust (Stepping Hill Hospital), where he is now Clinical Director for General Surgery and the clinical lead for Colorectal Cancer Surgery and Head of Department of Endoscopy. He is heavily involved in the teaching and training of both junior doctors and new surgeons.

Mr Saeed has a high level of expertise in hernia surgery including laparoscopic, incisional and parastomal hernias.  He has a particular interest with 12 years experience in the treatment of patients with Sportsmans hernias and has treated patients from a variety of sports backgrounds.  

Mr Saeed is one of only a small number of surgeons in the UK and the first in Manchester to routinely perform the HALO operation (Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation) for the treatment of haemorrhoids.

Mr Janindra Warusavitarne

Mr Janindra Warusavitarne is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon based at St. Mark's Hospital and Academic Institute in Harrow.

Mr Warusavitarne is a colorectal surgeon whose clinical practice encompasses all aspects of colorectal surgery with a special interest in intestinal failure, inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer.

Mr Warusavitarne studied for his medical degree at Newcastle University, Australia and completed his general surgical training in Sydney. After becoming a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Janindra undertook full-time research for three years focusing on the genetics of colorectal cancer which led to the award of a PhD from the University of Sydney, Australia. 

He is an academic surgeon - combining hands on clinical practice with ongoing research into colorectal diseases. He is a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College while also maintaining his appointment as a Conjoint Senior Lecturer at the University of New South Wales with a cross appointment as a Visiting Scientist to the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. He completed post-fellowship training, specialising in laparoscopic (keyhole) colorectal surgery at the Western Hospital, Melbourne, and then spent a year training in complex colorectal surgery at St Mark's Hospital. He was a consultant colorectal surgeon in Sydney, when he relocated to London with his family, to take up this prestigious post at St Mark's Hospital.

Dr Hosney Yosef

Dr Hosney Yosef is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at the Beastson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

Dr Yosef qualified from the University of Cairo Medical School in 1965 and has practised for over 30 years at the Beatson. He has played a leading role in the development of services with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, particularly in breast and gastrointestinal cancer as well as head and neck malignancy. 

Dr Yosef has developed specialised expertise in breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and gastrointestinal malignancy (both upper GI and colorectal). He has served as a member of the Medical Research Council, the Faculty Board for Clinical Oncology of the Royal College of Radiologists, the Council and Oncology Committee of the British Institute of Radiology (Chairman), The West of Scotland Managed Clinical Network and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) Scottish Audit Group. Previously he was President, Secretary and Member of the Council of the Scottish Radiological Society.

Dr Grainne Dunn

Dr Grainne Dunn is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at the Beatson West Of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow.

Her areas of clinical practice are in the management of breast and colorectal cancer. Dr Dunn is Oncology Lead for the West Of Scotland Colorectal Managed Clinical Network.

After studying medicine at Dundee, Dr Dunn trained in HIV medicine before completing oncology training as the McMillan Fellow at the Beatson Oncology Centre. She also completed a clinical attachment in radiotherapy planning at the Mater Hospital, Newcastle, Australia.

Dr Dunn has interests in clinical trials and, particularly, those involving systemic therapies for breast cancer, and cytotoxic chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. She is Principal investigator in various clinical trials.

Dr Vivek Misra

Dr Vivek Misra is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester.

Dr Misra has been a consultant at The Christie since 2005. He is a member of the breast and gastrointestinal disease groups and is an investigator for several national and international clinical trials. Dr Misra treats his patients with chemotherapy, hormone therapy, biological therapy and radiotherapy.

Dr Stephen Falk

Dr Stephen Falk is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

Dr Falk's major clinical interest is gastro-intestinal cancer (oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, colo-rectal).

Dr Falk qualified from Liverpool University in 1983 and spent a period in Liverpool undertaking a general medical rotation.  He then trained in oncology in Cardiff and Cambridge becoming a consultant in Bristol in 1994.

He has  sessional commitments to Southmead Hospital Bristol and attends the Taunton Nuffield hospital.  Stephen is  Clinical director of the West of England Local Research network whose job is to fund the NHS costs of delivering research activity in the NHS. He is also a member of the NCRI upper GI studies group, and chairs the pancreatic sub group.  He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal Clinical Oncology, and an author in more than 50 publications.

Dr Simon Gollins

Dr Simon Gollins is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist based at The North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, Glan Clwyd.

Dr Gollins qualified in medicine in 1988 at the University of Oxford, where he also carried out 3 years of laboratory research for a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD). Following medical jobs in Bath and Birmingham he gained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 1991.

His oncology training took place at the Christie Hospital Manchester where he gained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 1994 and at Velindre Hospital Cardiff where he was also a Consultant Clinical Oncologist prior to moving to North Wales.

Dr Saifee Mullamitha

Dr Saifee Mullamitha is a Consultant Medical Oncologist based at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

Dr Mullamitha graduated from the University of Bombay in 1995.  He has a dedicated specialist interest in the personalised management of early and advanced colorectal cancer. He is a lead principal investigator and co-investigator in a number of national as well as international clinical trials. Dr Mullamitha collaborates with a number of colleagues, especially liver surgeons and in areas where cyberknife might be a possibility. He has an interest in the liver directed approach e.g. selective internal radiotherapy (SIRT), irinotecan beads (DEBIRI), etc.

Mr Mamoon Solkar

Mr Mamoon Solkar is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon based at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
